The Med Spa curse-3 ways they limit growth

How med spas self-sabotage and limit their growth

You may own a med spa. Or you work at one. Or have been to one recently.

Every single med spa owner I've talked to has been sophisticated, well educated, and wanted to portray a luxury experience. But few actually do. And they can't figure out why.

Here are three ways med spas self-sabotage and limit their growth.

  1. They target the wrong patients.

The thought process is if we post an ad for Botox, we'll sell them on filler. Or if we have a $99 deal, we'll make them lifetime clients.

This isn't true because $99 patients don't magically become $999 patients. Target the filler patients, even if you get less of them, because the profit margins will be higher, and they'll be your ideal patients- they'll also refer others for similar procedures.

  2. They focus on their services instead of the patient experience.

Every med spa can do Botox and filler. Every single one offers water. Every single one has chairs for patients to sit and read magazines while they wait. These are not special or extraordinary. But consider having a waiting room for VIP patients, where they have their favorite magazines there, or wine, or a masseuse? Yes, a real masseuse to massage them until it's their turn. Don't you think this kind of experience would not only make them loyal patients, but they'd rant and rave about the experience to all their friends, giving them instant FOMO?

You can call them before their appointment and ask if they'd like a cold brew or a hot matcha ready as they arrive. Or have freshly bakes cookies. The list is endless.

  3. Their content doesn't show real experiences.

So what are they showing on their Instagram and Tik Toks? Often times, it's following trends. Or it's highly produced commercials and then they're stagnant for 6 months. These can get likes and a few "oh nice!" comments. But they don't "Ooooh and Ahhhh" people to the point they're sending the photo or reel to their closest 3 friends. Show transformations, before and afters, but also the reaction from the patients. Have them send videos of getting ready to go out on a hot Tinder date, or they're making their ex jealous, or they're getting glammed up for a wedding, whatever it is, there's a reason and story there. Show it. No one really cares about the newest machine you spent $150,000 for which has already depreciated to $8750.

Bonus: Create content for AI to recommend you to new patients. If you're a Med Spa owner and would like to learn more about this, just shoot me an email: Arash@humorandstory.com.

This is all based on real data and results I've seen firsthand over the past decade- these are not AI generated results. If you're doubtful, test them out with your practice and share the results. I love being proven wrong, as it means I've learned something new.
